job manager error

Happy new Year to all at I.T On the index template page for Job Manager there is a place holder for text to be displayed if no jobs are currently posted - I am sure this used to work and now does not - I also just logged in to your Job Manager demo area and tried it out there it also does not display the message if I remove all current job listings. Is there a setting somewhere to enable this message or is it an error that it is not being displayed. I have checked the template page carefully to see if when I applied the template to my site design I lost some code - I think everything is OK - Help Regards Cliff

Hi Cliff, Thank you for the forum post . Check your /templates/_index.html template file in your Job Manager installation. Look for the "notfound" template cell: <!-- templatecell : notfound --> Make sure there is HTML code to display text below the cell and make sure there's a closing template tag to indicate the end of the template cell: <!-- /templatecell : notfound --> Make the necessary changes and then republish the files by going to Setup Options -> General and click on the Publish All button. If this doesn't work, you may want to check permissions on all your installation and published files. Use the documentation as a guide on the proper permission settings: http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/jobmanager/. If you need to make permission changes, I would do so, then republish to see if the problem goes away. If you'd want, I can take a look at your server and work on getting this resolved right away. You can fill out a support form here: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi. I hope this helps. If you have questions please don't hesitate to ask! Hi Eric thanks for your response I have checked the code and it is exactly as you describe and has not altered from the original templates you provide. I have checked permissons and all is exactly as it should be. You didn't comment on my statement where I said that indeed your example demo of Job manager is also displaying this fault! I logged into a demo of job manager on your website and hid all of the jobs you had listed in the demo and the result is that all jobs disappeared from the list on the publish page but the no jobs message was not displayed on your published index page either. Have you tried this out on a copy of job manager to see if you might have introduced an error in a recent upgrade? Regards Cliff

Hi Cliff, Thank you for the response . I see that you are indeed correct. I could not get the not found message to work. It seems the latest version of Job Manager is not processing the not found template cell properly. I will address this issue with the development team and I will let you know of their progress as soon as I have word from them. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. If you have other questions or concerns please don't hesitate to bring them up! Cheers, Eric Lau - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi Cliff, I installed all the different versions of Job Manager that were ever released (from the very first release), and I tested all of them for the not found templatecell functionality. Although the templatecell was always there, they never worked. As it turns out, that functionality was never a part of Job Manager. I must had made a mistake when I thought it worked before, as the support team had not received any notice about this issue before. If you'd like, I could submit this as a feature request to the development team. While I cannot guarantee anything, hopefully the feature will be implemented in a future version. Hi Eric I was sure I saw it working - obviously not! I would like it submitted as a feature request since there are occasions when jobs are not available and it would be good to have an automatic message displayed. Regards Cliff

Hi Cliff, You can get Job Manager to process the "notfound" templatecell. Here's how: 1. Go to Setup Options -> General 2. Find the option called "Publish empty categories" 3. Select yes to enable this option. 4. Click Save to save it. 5. Republish by clicking the "Publish All" button By default, Job Manager does not publish empty categories. However, once you enable the option, the "notfound" templatecell will be processed. Let me know if it works for you, and if you have other questions please let me know. Hi Cliff, Thank you for your kind words. It is what the entire support team likes to hear! If it wouldn't be too much to ask, it would be really great if you could post a review about how you found our support to helpful and how Job Manager helped you in your most recent web project. You can post your review here: http://www.interactivetools.com/cgi/write_review.cgi?product=Job+Manager If you have other questions please let me know.
