Please add category functionality to News Manager

Hi, Could you please add category functionality to NM. Since it is in Job Manager, it seems not be too complicated. I know Article Manager is an alternative, but this suggestion is not accepted by our client. Thanks and keep up the good work! Joep

Hi Joep, Thanks for the forum post . While there are no plans to add category functionality to News Manager at this time, I'll let the development team know about your request. Since you've already indicated that Article Manager is not an accepted solution, I don't think I have an alternative solution for you at this time. I'll look into it and if I find a workaround I'll let you know. In the meantime if you have other questions please let me know. Cheers, Eric Lau - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi Eric, Thanks for your reply. I found a workaround: Publish as php files (this is, in my humble opinion, the most powerfull feature of your products). Since the files are php, you can do whatever you want. For example, have the user put in a category tag between brackets in de news name: "[Latest News]Eric replies quickly." Catch the generated article indices in an array and parse the news article name to find out the category. To be short, a lot of work. Therefore I requested the new functionality. Joep

HI Joep, Thanks for sharing with the community your workaround . It's a bit of php programming work, and I would encourage you to save that work so you can easily implement it again in your future projects. And if you're feeling altruistic, you can always post the php solution to the forum! Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.
