News Manager -- Numbers Missing

Hiya there! I recently got News Manager for a client's site -- to list her Photographic Art. A problem I am experiencing after testing the program is that there are missing pages. ie. I ended up deleting some entries, because they were wrong or simply because I wanted to change them and redo them over. Then, I moved the main publish directory to a gallery directory instead. (Plus named the default news_ to gallery_ as the default). The problem now is that my pages aren't numbered properly. They start at gallery_4.shtml, skip gallery_5.shtml and resume again at gallery_6.shtml up to 9. How can I get these to properly renumber again to start at gallery_1.shtml, gallery_2.shtml etc.? I looked all over the installation directories and can't find a single clue. Help! :-) Thanks! Rozey

Hi Rozey, Thank you for the forum post . Is there a particular reason why you need the html files numbered in order? The reason for skipped numbers has nothing to do with News Manager not working. The number refers to an internal record ID number News Manager uses to track its data. As data is erased and added, old ID numbers are not recycled. This is normal behaviour for News Manager and it should not affect News Manager's ability to store and display data properly. Let me know why you need to have all the html pages numbered sequentially and I may be able to offer a solution that fits your needs. If you have any other questions please let me know.
