Thanks for the forum post  .
News Manager doesn't have the ability to post only a restricted number of headlines. If you want such a feature you may want to consider using Article Manager.

Archiving is also a feature that's in Article Manager but not News Manager. It sounds like Article Manager is something you'd want to consider, so if you haven't already I would check out the product page here: http://www.interactivetools.com/products/articlemanager/

Eric,
I have looked at Article Manager extensively. Although it is a great program, it is simply too robust for my needs. The news reporting capabilities that I need fall directly in line w/ News Manager. And the only real extra thing I need is the archiving.

Since the development's working hard on another project right now, it's unlikely the feature will be implemented in the foreseeable future. Given your requirements a feature request is the best I can do at this time.
