Directory not writeable...? Can't Post

When I try to log on to News Manager I get the error:

Warning: File/Directory not writeable!

This web application needs to be able to create and update it's data files. Please ask your server administrator to make the following files and directories writeable:

I chmod the files (*.dat) 777, but the next time I log on they have changed to 644 again.

I had the same problem with Artman, and the problem was solved by adding umask=000 to the config.ini. What can I do to solve the problem in News Manager?

Hi kano,

Thanks for posting Smile

Depending on the version of News Manager that you are using, you can add the umask = 000 to the config.ini file, and that should solve your problem

You will want to make sure that you add umask = 000 above the settings that are currently in there, so it should look like this:

umask = 000
[setup-general]
# 0 = don't display, 1 = display
show_upgrade_info_section = 1

It's doesn't seem to work if you add it to the bottom of the list. Save the file and re-upload and that should solve it for you.

You will also want to make sure that you are using the most current version of News Manager (Version 1.101). If you need to upgrade, it is free, and you can request an upgrade at:

Let me know if that works for you, and if it doesn't, please let me know, and I will do my best to find another solution for you Smile

I tried this. Instead of changing to 644 the *.dat-files now automaticly changes to 666, but that seems to work fine (so far?)...Wink

Thanks for your help!
