Blocking One Category (and subcats) on Main Page

Hello, I am the website manager for a local newspaper company and we use the news manager for online publication. We are going to start posting the obituaries on the internet for out of state family use and were wondering if it was possible to not publish them to the front page. We want to have the categories and subcats to be online in the listing and have the "headlines" to the left, but just no center page publication of them. Thanks, Chadwick Horn - Webmaster Richmond Register, Inc.

Hi Chadwick! There are a few ways you could do this, depending on how you want to setup your site. One, rather than using the regular published pages in the front page, you could use a search query to pull in only the categories you want -- which would be every category except the obituaries. However, on a very high traffic site, this might end up being a bit of a drain on resources. The other option is to hide the category, and hardcode it onto the category list page. The downside to this is that the articles also won't show up on the headlines page. Let me know if either of these options work for you, or if you'd like further details. :) Donna
