Hi NT. Thanks for the email! I am glad to hear that you got that going again. Each of Article Manager’s templates have several sections called templatecells on them. They are used for formatting your content based on what kind of articles you have or how the next and previous buttons show up when they are needed. Each template cell has a beginning tag and an ending tag like this: <!-- templatecell : row --> <!-- /templatecell : row --> The two most important things about template cells is that 1) all of the ones that appear on your template to begin with need to be on there at all times and 2) you need to close a templatecell before starting the next. The problem you were running into was that one of the template cells was missing. When you copied the text you posted, it had all the template cells in it and that’s why it worked again. Does that help explain things? Let me know if you need anymore details . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Dear Ross, Thanks for the quick and informative reply... I understand the problem now and have fixed it. It would be great if you could also answer the following questions 1) are there certain number of cells that are required for a page to be published , can i have just one template cell e.g. just one row templatecell, 2)is row template cell or any other templatecell made up of other template cells or dependent on other cell? 3) what is the difference in files in ...\cgi-bin\artman\template_org\ and ... \cgi-bin\artman\templates ? to me former seems to be controlling place holders and the latter the colors page formatting etc... 4) do these two files add to provide the final look of index.shtml that is published...? 4) can i have an article without article name ..... or at least that it's not required that i display it's name..... Thanks a lot NT

Hi NT. Thanks for the follow-up! I’ll cover your questions one at a time . 1. All of the templatecells that appear on a default template need to be on the template after you finish making your changes. 2. Each templatecell is independent of the others. Make sure that you close off a templatecell before starting a new one. 3. I am not actually sure of both folders here. /cgi-bin/artman/templates will be the actual folder that Article Manager looks for all its templates in. /cgi-bin/artman/templates_org isn’t something that we would have uploaded. It sounds more like a backup copy of your default templates. That’s actually a quite a handy thing to have lying around incase you need a quick reference for which template cells are on a page 4. I would think that /cgi-bin/artman/templates is going to be the main templates folder. Everything gets published based on the files in there. 5. Yes you can have an article publish without its article name. You would just need to go onto your templates and remove $art_name$ anywhere it appears. There will be 4 main templates to look for it on: /article/default.html /index/default.html /search/advanced_search.html /search/search_results.html Once you make the changes, make sure to re-publish your articles from within Setup Options. Does that all make sense? Let me know if there is anywhere else I can go into more detail for you . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
