Problem with Table and WYSIWYG
|

Hello at all! I'm a new user of a WYSIWYG editor. I have a great problem (for my less experience) with the creation of a table in the editor. When I create a simple table with two rows and two columns like this: <table> <tr> <td>First Cell</td> <td>Second Cell</td> <tr> <tr> <td>Third Cell</td> <td>Fourth Cell</td> <tr> </table> automatically the editors insert the tag <tbody>, and result become like this: <table> <tbody> <tr> <td>First Cell</td> <td>Second Cell</td> <tr> <tr> <td>Third Cell</td> <td>Fourth Cell</td> <tr> </tbody> </table> The problem is that the browser who will have to process the page that contains the table don't support the tag <tbody>, <thead>, <tfoot> and other. Who can help me to solve this problem? I have the same problem with HtmlArea, FCKeditor and MSDHTLM. Please, helpme... Thank you before... Stefano

Hi Stephen, Thanks for your post. Can you let me know what problem occurs with the tbody tag? This is valid HTML, so it should have no detrimental effects on the display of your table. You can see more information about its use here: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_tbody.asp Thanks, Stephen! I look forward to helping you. :) Donna

Hi Donna! Before thanks for your support. You have reason when you say that it should no detrimental effects on the display of my table. You have reason for the Web browser but I have this problem for a Digital Terrestrial browser that implement only a subset of XHTML specifications. So I have a problem with the tag tbody, thead and tfoot of the table. To resolve this problem I think that I configure the editor WYSIWYG to not insert this tags automatically. How do? Best Regards, Stefano N.B.: Excuse me for my bad english ...

Hi Stefano, Thanks for the post and the additional details! Is the WYSIWYG editor you're using something within one of our products? If so, it would be great if you could let me know which product of ours you're using. A couple of our scripts use different WYSIWYG editors so if you can let me know the product you're using I'll have a look into this and see if there is a quick and easy way to fix this. I look forward to hearing from you Stefano! Cheers, Mike Briggs - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi Mike! Thanks for your support. I'm using HTMLArea into the OpenCMS content management system. I have the problems that I have exposed both with IE or Firefox. I have founded the references to "www.interactivetools.com" into the javascript file of HTMLArea. Thanks yet for your support... Best Regards, Stefano N.B.: Excuse me for my bad english...

Thanks for the additional details! Although htmlArea has been around for a while it became clear that the project wasn’t progressing the way that it was intended, so we've decided to discontinue it. http://www.htmlarea.com has now been re-launched as a directory of WYSIWYG editors. So instead of being able to choose from just htmlArea, you'll have an entire directory of WYSIWYG editors to choose from. You may also be able to find something in the archived, read-only forums regarding the issue you mentioned: http://www.htmlarea.com/forum/htmlArea_2_&_3_archive_(read_only)_C6/ If you have any other questions please feel free to let me know! :) Cheers, Mike Briggs - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi Mike! Thanks for the additional support! I have visited the read-only forums at: http://www.htmlarea.com/forum/htmlArea_2_&_3_archive_(read_only)_C6/ but here the discussions do not resolve my problem... If you have an idea in order to help to me you would make me a great pleasure ... Thanks before... Best regards, Stefano

Hi Stefano, As Mike mentioned, we're no longer developing or supporting htmlArea, so I'm not able to give you much help there. Try the forums at htmlArea.com, and possibly someone there can give you a hand. :) Donna
