Hi Juan, Thanks for your email. :) To move DocBuilder, what we recommend is installing the latest version of DocBuilder on the new server, then moving over the following directories: /data/ /templates/ You'll also need to recreate the custom directories that you setup for your document groups, and make sure you modify the paths in DocBuilder itself so it knows where to find them. :) If you're having any trouble, let us know. Alternately, we can do server moves for you for an additional fee -- take a look at our order page for more information. :) Donna

Hi Juan, Make sure that you update the paths in the document group itself. So, under "Document Group", click "Modify" on the group you want to edit. Update the path to the new folder there. :) Let me know if that works for you! Donna

Hi Juan, All of that data is saved in your /data/ directory -- you may want to try re-uploading it if your data isn't appearing. If you'd like us to log in and take a look at this for you, try filling out a support request form here: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi With this, we can pop in and see why it's not working as expected. :) Donna

I'm changing servers as well. Since I don't have a whole lot in DocBuilder, and most of what I do have is in need of updating anyhow, I'm thinking it might be easier to simply install the full version on the new computer and copy and paste the data that I want to save. Where can I find a download link for the full version of DocBuilder? Is that the same as the upgrade link? If so, I can find that.

Hi there, Yes, you can grab the latest version of DocBuilder by downloading it from the Upgrades page. The Upgrades page contains the full versions of all of our software. Enter in your product key, and you can download the same file that you would get if it was a new license. Donna

Okay, I've been wanting to finish this up, finally, now that Article Manager is working well. Rather than moving my previous installation to my new server, I have opted for a fresh installation of DocBuilder on my new server. I have downloaded the update DocBuilder package and uploaded the files to my server, at /cgi-bin/docs/ I have confirmed through their documentation that the path to my server's Perl location is the same as the default in admin.cgi so I've made no changes there. I have made the cgi-bin/docs/data subdirectory and all of its files chmod 777 (read, write, execute). As I am unsure as to whether this is for Owner/Group/Other or just for Owner, I have set them all to 777. I have set /cgi-bin/docs/exec/admin.cgi to chmod 755 (read, execute), including Owner/Group/Other. However ... When I try to run admin.cgi in my browser, I receive a 500 Internal Server Error, as follows: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@magic-city-news.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Hi. Thanks for all the extra details! My first thought now that you have confirmed permissions is that the scripts are possibly corrupted. Could you try uploading a new copy of admin.cgi in ASCII to see if that gets you going? The best thing would be to actually delete the admin that is there now and upload a whole new copy. If that doesn't get you going, send me a support request: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi and we'll take a closer look. How does that sound? Either way, I look forward to hearing from you . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Ross, that did it. Thanks. I didn't think it would, because I had already tried deleting and reinstalling all of the files, but deleting and reinstalling just admin.cgi did the trick. I appreciate it, and on a Sunday too. Now that it's installed, do I need to change any of the chmod settings? The installation docs didn't say anything about Owner, Group, and Other. For security purposes, what should they be set to?

Hi there I am glad to hear that's working for you now . And since things are working, I am included to think that you won't need to worry about the chmod settings. Every server is setup a little different and you'll find that some are fine with the default permissions. Keep me up to date though. If anything comes up, let me know . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
