wysiwyg not working in browser

Hello, wysiwyg is not working on one computer. All works fine from our home computers and one office computer. A laptop we have at the office does not. We are not able to enter any text in the wysiwyg box but can in the fields above that are not wysiwyg. Seems like an IE or home xp problem. Any thoughts on what may be a fix? In the browser I tried resetting internet options, advanced, to restore default and that did not help. Larry

Hi Larry. Thanks for posting! There are actually several things I can get you to look into for me here. Could you review this troubleshooting guide on our site: http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/doc.cgi?/articlemanager/install/editor_troubleshooting.html That should get you going but keep me up to date with how you are making out . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi, I have similar problems (never occuring before). When using IE 6.0.2xxxx I can't write anything in the fields "Summary" or "Content", but I can fill in the article headline in the titel field above. In Firefox 1.5.0.7, I can fill in all fields/forms, but when trying to use the editor link tool it doesn't work. The fill in form window pops up correctly, but when trying to insert the link (with the insert button), after adding the link information, nothing happens. The same counts for Netscape 7.2. I am using Windows XP Professional SP2, with normal security settings. The version of AM is 1.41. The fire wall I use is F-secure. I have checked the link you suggested. Everything seems correct according to the check points in this article, although I not have the possibility to check point 4 (file permissions) right now. But it has worked correctly before. If you have any suggestion how to solve the problem I would be very grateful. Best regards Gunnar

Hi Gunnar. Thanks for posting! The most common cause for a problem like this is actually the images path so I’ll get you to double check that for me one more time. It’s in Setup Options on the Server tab. What you’ll probably want to use is something like this: /artman/images no domain name, no www. Just what you see there. Of course, if you used a different folder structure, you’ll need to adjust my example. Now, if that doesn’t get you going, I’ll need to do some more testing. For that, I would need you to fill out a support request for me here: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi How does that all sound? Keep me up to date . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi Ross, Thanks for your answer. It helped . I checked and changed the image url to relative (from start I thought it was a matter only when using images) and you are right that i makes a difference. Now I can put text in the summary form as wanted in IE as well. When trying this I thought I still had the problem with inserting a link. But when changing the url (source) to relative here as well it did work also. I have one question though. In the link dialog window there is two fields for Target. What is the left one ment for? Can't remember I have seen it earlier. And one last question as well; the changing of the image url to relative, can it possibly cause problems for any one else logging in with the www in the adress? Thanks Gunnar

Hi again Gunnar Glad the WYSIWYG editor is working again . With the link tool, the left option for target is if you have a specifically named frame that you want the link to pop into. If you leave that blank though, you can use the drop down beside it to choose a few pre-defined options. So you basically just choose one or the other. The relative images URL is actually the way we get around the whole “www” thing. By going relative, you actually don’t need to worry about the visitor using www in their URL or not. Does that all help? Let me know if there is anything else I can lend a hand with . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
