Serious problem with AM1

Hi, I am hoping someone can help. Last night at 5pm I uploaded some files to a site I control and it was looking. By this morning the homepage has reverted back to a previous state and AM isn't working. The hosting company denies that they did anything overnight and cannot explain what has occured. The also state that they do not have a back-up. I have check the cgi-bin/artman/data folder and there is now no article.dat file. If I try to run the article manager log-in is says that it isn't installed. As you can imagine I don't have a back-up that is anywhere near up to date. Any clues or help? Steve

Hi Steve, Afraid not. :/ The article.dat is the main article database. Without that, there are no articles in Article Manager. Sorry I can't offer much help there. Do you still have the live published pages of each article? Donna

Hi, I have most of them - but obviously it isn't much help with the CMS and the indices. I'm working through the night to try and resurect by hand what I can. By the way, it failed when it got to article999 I think - is there a 1000 article limit by any chance? Steve

Hi Steve, Thanks for the follow-up! Article Manager shouldn't run into 1000 article publish limit, this may be something that involves the amount of time that your server allows for cgi scripts to run. If you like I'll be happy to connect with your server and run a few test for you. All you will need to do is send me your ftp details, you can do this using this link: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi Does this help Steve? I look forward to hearing back from you soon. Cheers, Chet Woodside - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
