Internet Explorer crashing Can't Post

I suddenly started getting this strange error: IE 6, Win2K, AM 1.32

While loading my AM page, the browser crashes, saying "Internet Explorer cannot open the
internet site http://www.domain.com/etc Operation aborted"

In addition, this simply appeared in a story I posted this morning:

I look around. I learn new things. I get new storylines. I get fresh inspiration when I <a href="http://go-advertising.com?go=&lt;a href=">travel</a>"&gt;<a href="http://get-certified.net?go=travel">travel</a></a>

I did not add all the html you're seeing. Its like the editor pounced on the word TRAVEL and added search links to it - pointing to some strange website.

Am I just the one experiencing this?

In conclusion, my browser also crashes in an identical fashion on Hotscripts.com.

Thanks.

Re: [Sola] Internet Explorer crashing [In reply to] Can't Post

I think it just did something similar to the word travel in uppercase in the above pos. That is what the word travel looks like on my site now after I deleted the html added by the system. Is this some sort of HTML Area thing? Am I missing something? Maybe its time to upgrade?

Thanks.

Hi Sola,

Thanks for posting.

Could you post a link to the thread so I can see if I can duplicate the error on my end? That may help me shed some light onto your problem. Thanks!

Re: [Sola] Internet Explorer crashing [In reply to] Can't Post

It makes me sad when someone opens a thread that covers the exact same problem that you're encountering, and then they don't update the thread with with solution.

IS there a solution to this issue? We have a fairly large site (3,000 to 4,000 articles so far) and the search works great except for a few particular searches, which yield the following error:

Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet file: http://mydomain.com/search.php?searchstr=alex Operation aborted. (mydomain is the client's domain).

When you click ok it returns a "page not found" error page.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

Well, don't be sad as it obviously isn't the same issue. This happened 3 years ago and I do not quite recall the whole scenraio now, but it had nothing to do with AM. Some trojan or something that tacked itself on to my PC was adding the stuff.

Yours is a different issue altogether. Open a new ticket.

Re: [John D.] Internet Explorer crashing [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi John.

Thanks for posting!

And like Sola said, there’s definitely no reason to be sad. We are always happy to help so we’ll get to the bottom of this.

The first thing I noticed here is that the URL you are using ends in search.php?searchst=alex which isn’t a URL that we typically see with Article Manager as it’s actually a cgi script and would end with search.cgi.

Perhaps, like Sola did, you could send me a link to the site you are having trouble with. You can fill out a support request here:

https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi

For the time being, I am not actually sure if we are both thinking of the same Article Manager here so once we get the support request, we’ll be able to find out for sure.

I look forward to hearing from you Smile.

Re: [ross] Internet Explorer crashing [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok. We'll be opening a ticket shortly. FYI, this particular setup is using an old version of AMv1.

BTW, did you notice that some of the words in your post are not displaying correctly? Is that due to some setting on my machine? It looks like when you tried to use an apostrophe it came out as ’ instread.

Thank you.
