The vistual includes do not show up in my advanced search page http://mail.usu.org.au/usu/artman/exec/search.pl I cannot work out what I need to do to make them show up? There seems to be a similar problem with my next pages after a search - I am not sure whether they are related but they use different templates. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated Thanks

Hi Margaret, Thanks for your post. :) It looks like you've got Article Manager set to use Template Includes rather than SSI's. You can change this by going to "Setup Options". Look for the section that says this: - Resolve "template include" tags - Resolve SSIs and Server-side Scripting Switch it to Resolve SSI's, and they should start appearing. :) Let me know if that works for you, or if you have any other questions. :) Donna

When I did that the home page (and other pages which used the search facility to load the latest news) would not download properly. Is there another way around it - is my pathe incorrect? sorry

Hi Margaret! No problem -- That problem is related to a feature in Article Manager that allows it to interpret SSI's and code (PHP, ASP, etc) in it's dynamically generated pages, but this system won't run on your web host. Specifically, the server you're on does not accept web requests from itself. This means that the dynamic pages won't be able to interpret SSIs, or other script language markup in them. Article Manager includes an alternative system called "template includes". The only thing you need to do differently is when you add server side includes (SSI) to the page - you'll need to mirror all of your SSI's with corresponding template includes. For example, if you have the following SSI: <!--#include file="navigation_header.html" --> You'll need to change it to this: <!--#include file="navigation_header.html" --> <!-- template include : navigation_header.html --> Template includes are relative to Article Manager's publish directory. So, if you go into your templates and modify each of them to have a template include as well as the SSI, everything should work as expected for you. :) Donna

Hi there... I too am having the same problem... but we do not appear to have problems with the includes b/c the category list IS showing up on other pages... why would it not show on the search page in particular but viewable on the rest of our site's section? Main: http://scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-script/tutorials/publish/index.shtml (see categories included) Search http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-script/tutorials/exec/search.cgi (see categories on left missing) also the left categories are missing from internal category pages: http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-script/tutorials/publish/cat_index_24.html
