How to replace _ with - in filenames? Can't Post

Hi,

Great piece of software guys. Use it all the time.

Can you tell me how to replace the automatic inclusion of "_" with "-" when saving filenames?

For example, I want to replace "filename_one.html" with "filename-one.html"

cheers,

Glen.

Setup Options --> Server Tab. Find "Article Pages" and change "filename_" with "filename-".

Michael

Hi Glen.

Thanks for posting and welcome to the board!

Looks like Michael beat me to it on this one. His suggestion should get you going. Thanks Michael!

I actually tried that prior to posting the problem here. Unfortunately it doesn't work as (I think) my preference to "Use search engine friendly URLs" is turned on?

ie. Currently AM saves my files according to the title of the article I specify

eg: "This Is My Article" is saved as "This_Is_My_Article.html".

All I want is for it to auto insert - instead of _ but the above solution doesn't appear to work for me. It works if I don't specify the article title.

cheers,
Glen

Hi Glen

Now I see what you are trying to do Smile. Michael and I were on a different track. To get those underscores turned into dashes instead, try uploading the attached template file to /templates/admin/menus/ and over write the one that's there.

Basically, it's a bit of JavaScript there that is adjusting the filenames there for you so I just need to change one little thing. Of course, when it comes to the admin templates, it's better if I can just make the change for you.

Give it a shot and let me know what you think Smile.

Hi Ross,

Are you sure that template is for Article Manager 1? I am using Article Manager 1 and I cannot locate /templates/admin/menus/ anywhere.

cheers,
Glen.

Hi Glen

Sorry about that. My template is definitely going to be for Article Manager 2 so it won't really work with Article Manager 1.

Now, the problem we have here is that file renaming thing for Article Manager 1 is right in the code itself so it isn't going to be something you can adjust.

If this is going to be a major requirement for your site, you might want to take a look at upgrading to version 2.

Let me know what you think Smile.
