How do I get summaries to show up?

How do I take advantage of the summary section? I always fill it out, but nothing shows up regarding a summary in the published article or when searching for the article in our search. I don't see anything in the html of the page either. But if I edit it in article manager the summary is there in the summary box. Is this a templating issue?

Hi there Thanks for posting! This is most likely going to be a template issue so you are already on the right track . What I think you'll need to do is go through your templates and start adding the following placeholder $art_summary$. That's what makes your summary appear. Now, depending on the template, that placeholder will go in different places. In your index or search results, it needs to go within the 4 main template cells (row, row_summary, ufile, link) but on the article template it can basically go anywhere you like. Does that make sense? Try adding it back and republishing your articles to see if that gets you going. Keep me up to date with how you are making out . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

I passed this along to our webmaster and he says the portion of content dedicated to the summary wasn't inserted into the generated pages. Does this mean I would have to resave all the articles once templating was changed? Thanks

Hi there Thanks for posting! When you are making template changes, you don't actually need to save all your articles over again. There is one button that will get everything updated so after you make a change on your template, you just need to click on that one and all your articles will start using the new templates. Now, with what you are aiming for here, all I think you need to do is make sure that $art_summary$ is actually on your template. That's what makes your summaries appear. Could you ask your webmaster to try that for us? Let me know how they make out . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi The button you are looking for here is going to be called "Publish All". There are several of them in the Setup Options area but they are all the same so just hit the first one you see and let me know how you make out . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
