HTML in email content summary

Hey Folks, I have AM setup to send the summary to a mailing list when contents is published to certain catagories. Howeven, when I use HTML to make the summary look a little more presentable, the HTML code is not interpreted in the email content, and basically makes it difficut to read. Is there a means of stripping the HTML before mailing the content ? It appears that in some way AM is doing that since it seems to clean up customize tags in the body of the story. Secondly, is there a means of adding HTML headers so that the HTML code is interpreted and rendered as in a browser ? Thanks.

Hi hotstone! Thanks for your email. :) What the email notification does is grab the exact content of the fields specified and emails it out to you, so there's no way to strip out the HTML first. That said, what you could do is setup a specific field just for emailing the content out. To do this: Create a spare field in the Setup Options and label it "email summary." Then, paste the content of your summary in without the HTML. Now, simply modify the /templates/email/notify.txt template with the placeholder for your new field, rather than the $art_summary$ template. Don't put this field anywhere into your published site templates, and it will only be used for email. I hope this helps. :) Donna

Hi ... just wondering if anyone has found a way to get the system to send HTML or multipart emails rather than plain text. While I can see Donna's solution above working, it wouldn't be very elegant to have to explain why the people submitting content need to enter it into two different boxes. Paul.

Hi paulmcd, Donna's notes above were actually for sending out emails that do not contain any HTML code at all. That being said, HTML emails are not available in Article Manager; only plain text emails are supported. Let us know if you have any other questions. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
