Article Manager timeouts

Hello, currently we have a particular article manager setup that keeps timing out on us. It will save articles we post despite timing out, but never rewrite the pages the articles should appear on. It also times out when attempting to archive articles. Currently in this AM setup, there are 11,389 articles in that AM installation. Is there anything we should be looking for as the cause of this kind of problem? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi ironsoup! Well, the good news is, this is a really easy one to answer: You have over 4 times the number of recommended articles! Article Manager is generally only recommended to a maximum of 2500 articles. I'm actually pretty surprised that it's managed to work for you this long -- I've seen a few go up to 4-5000, but this is quite impressive! :) I'd recommend upgrading to Article Manager 2, with a MySQL database, ASAP. While you can try to archive some of your older articles in Article Manager 1, I suspect it's going to give you trouble with that as well... Article Manager 2 can handle as many articles as you'd like if you choose the MySQL option. You can download the latest version here: http://www.interactivetools.com/upgrade/ I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. :) Donna

Donna, I'm in the process of upgrading the AM installation to version 2. It was originally version 1.38 I believe. So I first updated to version 1.41. The only problem is, after doing so I don't see the version number any more at the bottom of the general tab section in Admin setup. Also, in the article listing view for category names it shows "HASH X393948" etc. And I don't see the wysiwyg editor etc, stuff I should see with an upgrade to 1.41. But I figured, why not try and get the artman2 upgrade going and see if it will just go from there ok. So I uploaded all the necessary files and when I go to www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/artman2/admin.cgi I get internal server errors shown below. Any ideas? Can't locate warnings.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /www/virtual/admin/www.2-pop.com/cgi-bin/artman2/modules/ /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/i386-freebsd /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005 . /usr/libdata/perl/5.00503/mach /usr/libdata/perl/5.00503) at /www/virtual/admin/www.2-pop.com/cgi- bin/artman2/modules//IT/ArtMan/CustomMenus/Admin/PublishRules.pm line 18. Hi there, I think you'll want to fill out a support request so that we can take a look at your server directly. You can fill this out here: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi We can take a look from there and see what's going on. :) Donna
