Quick Page Commentor

I've attached what appears to be a nice little application called Quick Page Commentator. It's a CGI app that can be used to provide a "comment on this page" feature. It's unsupported by the originator, which is important to note because some people have had installation problems with it (me included). It's elegantly set up so that by just adding a simple server-side include to any page you can have comments on an unlimited number of pages. There's a nice admin control panel as well. I'm not a Perl programmer, but I'm submitting this because it will probably work for most, and for the others, maybe somebody else here will figure out the installation bug and give us all a glorious comment app...

Hi Bill! Thanks for posting that. I took a quick look, and it seems to be a pretty nifty little script. I'd love to see what it looks like when you get it up and running. :) Donna

The script installs with no errors, but regardless of that it won't accept my admin username/password, even when I hard code the password & other setup data into the file setup.cfg. The originator of the script acknowledges that too many people were having installation problems, and when even he couldn't track down what was wrong he stopped supporting his free script. Me, I'm an ASP programmer with no Perl experience, so I can't even attempt it...

Hi Bill, Ah, a pity... hmm. I suspect if the developer himself doesn't know what's wrong, it's going to be hard for us to troubleshoot. Well, if anyone does manage to get it running, I'd love to see it. :) Donna
