Invision Integration

Hi One of my customers has purchased ReviewCast (www.ReviewCast.com), our PHP/MySQL based review program which can use the Invision members database for user authentication. He is very keen on Article Manager to handle the CMS duties on his site (which is not surprising as it looks excellent) and wants a single user login between ArtMan, ReviewCast and Invision. I see from your goforum.cgi script that you can create a new thread in the Invision forum, but it seems to require a username and password specified in goforum.config.cgi. Can ArtMan use the Invision members database for authentication or does it use its own internal auth database and then the single user specified in goforum.config.cgi for the forum integration? He would buy ArtMan in a heartbeat if this was the case and it would also be a powerful liason between the three products. Thanks, in anticipation Chris http://www.reviewcast.com - A powerful review programme for your website

Hi Chris, Thanks for your post! Concerning your goforum questions, goforum uses a single forum account (username & password) which it uses to post Article Manager content to the forums - that was the account info you noticed in the goforum.dat.cgi file. But I'm afraid that at the moment, there really isn't any way to be able to create new forums posts via the script on a per-user basis. And secondly, Article Manager has it's own user authentication process, in which it examines one of it's data files when the client initially logs in. Unfortunately, you won't be able to modify it to use the Invision members database for authentication - that would require actually editing the program source code, which is not available. I'm very sorry I couldn't be more help. Ben interactivetools.com

Hi Benjamin Thanks for your speedy reply. I understand your thinking in using your own authentication database . My customer could protect premium content published by ArtMan by .htaccess which would avoid needing authentication via the Invision forum, but that would mean two logins unless I can find another solution. Nevertheless ArtMan appears to be a great product and is high on my list of CMS solutions, particularly with its static page generation. http://www.reviewcast.com - A powerful review programme for your website
