Just dropping in and checking if anyone managed to solve the compatibility issues for InvisionBoard 2.0? Also, could someone explain what GoForum does? I am thinking of getting AM and I thought I should check my options :)

Hi Mortekai. Thanks for posting and welcome to the board! What the goForum script used to do was automatically create a new thread in one of several different online forums. From there, visitors to your site that have signed up for the forum that you use can post comments about each article. Unfortunatly, there hasn’t been enough time in the office to update the script and as a result it probably isn’t going to work with most forums. I’d be happy to send it out to you though so that you can give it a shot. If you’re interested, just send me an email at support@interactivetool.com.

Thank you Ross, I'll consider it for a while and if I decide its worth a shot I'll toss you a letter for sure :) Now, what are the word on merging the userdatabase of AM with and existing one such as IPB? Is that possible?

Hi Mortekai. Thanks for the update! Currently, Article Manager is setup to only work with its own flat file database. You might be able to have another script automatically import Article Manager’s data, however, I there isn’t a way to have Article Manager pull data from external sources; it always uses its own databases. We are actually working on a MySQL version of Article Manager at the moment, so perhaps that could open the door to possible connections with other databases, however, I don’t actually know for certain. I hope this helps. If you have anymore questions, don’t hesitate to let me know . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

With a MySQL version it should be possible to bridge just the login perhaps if you put the AM in the same database as for example IPB?

Hi Mortekai, Thanks for posting. In theory something like that could be possible, however putting it into action is another thing. At the moment I don't even have a rough idea of how the upgrade is going to work, since it's still in development. Regards, Cliff Stefanuk - Customer Service Manager support@interactivetools.com

I hear you :) Theory is good, but its best not to speculate before you know the products involved :) Do you have a rough estimate on when a MySQL could be available? In say 3-6 months perhaps? Once I install the current AM, will it be possible to upgrade to MySQL version later, or should I wait for the MySQL version to be on the safe side?

Hi Mortekai. Thanks for posting again! Unfortunatly, I don’t have a lot of information on how the MySQL release of Article Manager is going to work in terms of upgrading. We normally offer free upgrades on all software; however, if something changes to that, something that is fair to everyone will be setup for existing owners. I wish I had some more definite answers for you, however, when things start getting written in stone, there will definitely be announcements (and cheers) that you won’t be able to miss . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Thats ok Ross, I understand that. All I really need to know if it will be possible to upgrade...I figure when and how is just icing on the cake :) if it is possible to arrange an upgrade I belive I will order a copy within a few weeks. Speaking of which, should I order as usual or is there a different approach if you have purchased other licenses in the past? Just checking since some companies want to keep information in one place :)
