AvantGo-friendly pages ...

Following previous posts we were able to create a template to automatically create handheld-friendly content. Nice. Question: We're using the printer-friendly pages for the actual article content. I've noticed that links [some of them external links] are displayed on these pages. I would like to "hide" the links on the printer-friendly pages to prevent AvantGo viewers from attempting to click to non-handheld-friendly pages. Is there a reasonable solution to this? Thanks. Hi, By default the printer friendly template pages don't have links to other pages so AvantGo viewers won't be able to click to other non-handheld friendly pages. If you have modified the printer friendly template to include links, here are some options: - instead of using the printer friendly template, you may want to create and use a separate specific template for the Avantgo pages that doesn't include any links. or - if it is possible, remove the links from the printer friendly templates so they are not available to the AvantGo users. I hope that helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Cheers Damon Edis interactivetools.com

Damon, actually, all of our printer-friendly pages do have links. Is there an option to disable the links? Thanks. Jim www.growthtrac.com Jim g r o w t h t r a c dot c o m Life Changing Resources for Your Marriage

Hi again Jim, There is no way to disable links that I am aware of but if anyone else has any ideas please let me know. I did write a post on how to create a handheld friendly template to be used to generate the article content in a format for AvantGo users. Hopefully this would be a good solution for your site. Here is the link: http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2724#2724 Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers Damon Edis interactivetools.com

Damon, I'm confused. In your first post, you stated: ---------------------------------------------------- By default the printer friendly template pages don't have links to other pages so AvantGo viewers won't be able to click to other non-handheld friendly pages. ---------------------------------------------------- In the next post, you said, "There is no way to disable links". Which is it? Jim g r o w t h t r a c dot c o m Life Changing Resources for Your Marriage

Hi again, Sorry for the confusion. When you are referring to links in your printer friendly pages, do you mean links in the article content or navigation links in the printer friendly page template? I was under the impression that you had modified the printer friendly templates to add navigation links so that has been what I was referring to. For links in the article content, there is no way that I'm aware of to specifically disable them but other forum users may have ideas. :) One note: don't add any javascript to the the pages that will be displayed to AvantGo users or no content will appear. AvantGo doesn't handle javascript. I hope that helps. Cheers Damon Edis interactivetools.com
