Article positions/Home page articles/User accounts

I have a number of suggestions for improving article manager in future updates. Firstly, the ability to easily move the order of articles up and down should be looked into. Another idea is to be able to choose which stories go on the home page. Plus, there should be greater user capabilities like being able to store an article under your account without submitting it. Can these ideas be submitted from a users point of view? Another good idea would be took be able to post comments about articles, maybe at the bottom of the story or in a forum or something. Hi, If you already have forum software installed on your server (such as vbulletin, ubbthreads, gossamer forum, ikonboard, and discus), you can use the Goforum add-on to add the functionality of being able to allow comments and discussion for particular articles. For more information about this, have a look at the following thread: http://www.interactivetools.com/forum/forum.cgi?post=1444 Also, currently you can set an article's status to "Pending", if you want to have it stored in the database but not published yet. As for being able to specifically decide which articles are displayed on the main page, although our "Featured Article" is sort of designed for this, it sounds like you want to be able to explicitly control with articles show up on the page. I will pass your suggestion on to be added to the feature request list. Also, with regards to your suggestion about being able to have the ability to easily move the order of articles up and down, I will pass that along to be added to the feature request list. Mike, thanks for your response. I will try and install Goforum then. Concerning the article positioning, that's exactly what I was referring to. On the Category Editor you can move categories up and down. Maybe a similar thing could be done for articles, so that you can choose which go on the main page??? Or something like that? Thanks for adding it to the list! Hi, Now I understand precisely how you want article positioning to work... Having the ability to explicitly set the order of the articles sounds like a really cool feature. I will pass it along to be added to the "wish list". :-) Mike Roulston interactivetools.com

A hearty yay, yay to that idea! I am wanting the ability to do exactly that!! In my case, I use ArtMan as a content manager for regular, content intense websites. That means that there isn't going to necesarily be a huge influx of new articles, but the old ones are going to be edited, added, or changeg. But, this means I have no control over the order of content that gets inputed, unless I actually input it in the order I want it displayed. So, this feature would be awesome as it would considerably extend the power of AM to be more than a news content/article manager, to a fully controled truly "content" manager--whatever that may be! Hope you all ad it on soon! Josue Colorado Springs, CO www.josuesierra.net

Hi theinformer, Thank you for the forum post . Since your original post, Article Manager has gone through significant upgrades, including the much anticipated subcategories support which rolled out last week! At this point we are reviewing potential features to implement and your feature request is among them. Stay tuned for the next release and see what we come up with next! If you have other questions please let me know. Cheers, Eric Lau - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
