Anyone help with GoForum install - set a couple of commands?

I've installed a few scripts but these directions are a little vague (and I am a novice). I was wondering if anyone could help? [yabbse] forum_url = 'http://www.yabbse.org/community' # forum script directory forum_login = 1 # login required? 1 = yes, 0 = no forum_user = '' # forum user with post access forum_pass = '' # password for user forum_num = 1 # post to this forum number by default Not sure about the red lines. Also, for category mapping, in Simple Machines (formerly Yabbse), you create Categories and then Boards within the categories. So if you have: cat1 = forum1 Is forum 1 counting the category or does it start with the 1st board within the category? Thanks The Motorcycle Search Engine

Thomas, can you get your goforum to work at all with yabbse? I have trouble with yabbse's compatibility

I use Dreamhost.com. I have put in a question to them about the latest versions. We are using the same versions as far as AM, GoForum, and YABBSE are concerned. I 'll post back when I get the answers. The Motorcycle Search Engine

Thanks ThomasK. I wonder if it has to do with the older version of mySQL that my server uses. Can anyone from Interactivetools verify the minimum MySQL requirement for the functioning goforum please? Thanks a bunch

Hi rlindomph, Thanks for your post! While many of the forums have mySQL requirements, goforum itself doesn't actually have a mySQL requirement. So this wouldn't be the problem. It may be that the forum you're using has a specific mySQL requirement, in which case you would want to make sure that the forum you're using is compatible with the version of mySQL on your server. It may also be that goforum is no longer comaptible with the version of the forum you're attempting to set it up with. Luke Holzken Product Development

ThomasK successfully installed the same version of yabbse. Fortunately, the forum is supported with my MySQL. I checked the log. Here are the error. "Execution of /home/users/web/b2446/cgi-bin/artman/exec/goforum.cgi aborted due to compilation errors. Global symbol "$link_to_article" requires explicit package name " What is the package name?

Hi rlindomph Thanks for posting. Though I'm not really sure what that error message may mean, GoForum is an open source script, so you may be able to find a Perl programmer who can help you update the script so that it works with your installation of yabbse. We have a directory of Perl programmers that may be of help to you. I wish that I could have been of more help in getting this up and running for you. If you have any additional questions or concerns please don't hesitate to let me know Regards, Cliff Stefanuk - Customer Service Manager support@interactivetools.com

Hi Cliff, Do you know of any Perl programmers that could customise goforum to work with phpbb? Have tried e-mailing many from your list but have had no reply. Thanks

Hi , Thanks for posting. While I don't know of any programmers off the top of my head, you may want to take a look through The CGI Resource Index as it has a vast number of programmers. Also, if you take a look through the individual scripts themselves, you could contact the folks who created them since quite often they take on custom work. Another thing that can try would be to go directly to the phpBB Community. Give those options a whirl and let me know how that goes Regards, Cliff Stefanuk - Customer Service Manager support@interactivetools.com

Hello ThomasK, To answer your question. The first thing you need to do is create a new user in your YABBSE. For example "newsposter" for the username and "password" for the password. Then afterwards just subsitute in between the "'" forum_user = 'newsposter' # forum user with post access forum_pass = 'password' # password for user
