AMSCRIPTS.com MIA?

Anyone know what happened to AmScripts.com? Are they gone forever? have they been gobbled up by interactivetools.com (which would seem to be a good idea)? I was looking forward to installing their add-ons this week - but now they appear to be gone (and have been for a few days....

Hi WebFusion, Thanks for posting. I'm not sure what's going on over at AmScripts as they are separate from us. You may want to contact the forum user Mike4172 to see what is up as I believe that he is associated with them. I suspect that them being offline may be a temporary thing, but try and get in touch with them and let me know how that goes. Yeah....looks like the lost their domain (bravenews.com) as well. Too bad really, as those scripts really added to great functionality to the site (which, for $300 a pop, I wish AM would have built in anyway). As the goforum script has stopped working on my site for some reason (getting a "Error posting new thread, unable to parse out new thread URL! at goforum.cgi line 870. " error), looks like I'll be taking it off the site completely. Don't you love buying things from companies who disappear?

What board are you using? The script they were using was originally developed by interactivetools.com, I believe. Possibly just a few variables changed and it might run again. I had an old version. What version do you have?

I'm using v1.10 with PHPBB 2.x . It's probably a problem that a programmer would only need about 5 minutes to diagnose. I've checked all the permissions, and they're still correct (which, considering we haven't changed anything on the server, stands to reason), so I'm at a loss. I've temptorarily removed the "discuss this article" link from our templates in hope that the script author will chime in here will a fix for the "Error posting new thread, unable to parse out new thread URL! at goforum.cgi line 870. " error. Unfortunately, since amscripts.com now also bears a "The domain name configured to this hostname has expired" message, it looks as if he's either abandoned his add-on services for AM, or had some kind of setback that made him lose his domains. Off to elance.com for a freelancer, I suppose. Anyone know if Interactivetools will be adding any of the great functionality these third-party scripts did (we particularly like the text2link and goforum scripts)?

Yeah, I've seen the code before, looked pretty simple. If you want, I will program the fix, no charge. You can attach the script it by private message. I need to test out more forums as it is! On the text 2 link solution, we re-wrote that totally. I do not know if or when we will make it available, but we made it capable of inserting ads (and a bit smarter!).

Please, please we need a GoForum plugin for vBulletin and phpBB, why not release it under Interactivetools brand? It's a good $50 option to your products, we will buy it.

Hi, Thanks for the posts! It's certainly unfortunate that this site doesn't seem to be up and running right now and hopefully it's something that will be resolved soon. While some of these add-ons and features are things we'd love to incorporate into future versions of Article Manager all of our development resources are currently going into Article Manager 2.0 and it's current feature set. In the meantime, offering support for free, add-on scripts is not something we're best equipped to do. It's important to us that we spend our time supporting our software rather than add-on scripts that we hadn't recently developed and don't have extensive knowledge of. If you have any other questions about this, just let me know! Cheers, Mike Briggs - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi Brndnjng, Thanks for posting. No word yet on if AMscripts is done for good or just for now, but if you watch this thread it will be the best source for updates. Regards, Cliff Stefanuk - Customer Service Manager support@interactivetools.com

In short, the company whose hosted various sites over the past 5 years for us went out of buisness overnight and it occured around the holidays. As it turned out the DNS was registered with through the now defunct hosting service so it added another level of frustration getting that resolved. In hindsight, never have your DNS information tied to a hosting company regardless of how many years they've been online. Now that the DNS issued has been solved getting the HTML files back is the next step. Although we may very well see a basic short term site design come out just so the files and various updates are again public. Thanks for all the messages via IM and other addresses. Nice to see all the support and patience will be paid off soon. :) Regards, Michael NEW!Logo and Website Design Auto Post Date and Expiration GoForum 2.02 http://www.amscripts.net SKYPE - michael.amscripts
