hi there, has anyone tried to view some files(*.doc,*.xls,*.pdf) in the browser before? I've tried to do it by this code (<A HREF="testing.doc" Target="displayFrame" ><testing></A>) , but it only works when it's pdf file. It doesn't work for MS office documents, it prompt a dialog box for me to save the file instead of displaying the file contents in browser, can anyone tell me how to solve it? Thanks a lot....

Hi narumi, Do you have Microsoft Word installed on the computer that you are testing this on, and which browser are you using?... The reason why I ask is because if you have Word installed, and click on a .doc file from within a web page in Internet Explorer, you should get a prompt asking if you want to open the file in the browser window (same goes for Excel files). There is also a check box that you can deselect if you don't want to be prompted again. The same goes for .pdf files... If you have Acrobat installed, the files open up in the browser. If not, you get a prompt asking you to either save the file to disk, or specify what program you want to use to open the file. Let me know whether you have Word installed on the computer you're testing this on, and if you do and you are still having problems, I'll see if I can come up with any other possible solutions regarding this issue. hi, I just found out that it is because the IE in my company doesn't allow office files to be run in it. I have another problem now, is there anyone can suggest some components to convert office files to pdf files, so I can use in my web page?

Hi narumi, The most popular program for creating PDF files is Adobe Acrobat. The free program that pretty much everyone on the web has nowadays is called "Adobe Acrobat Reader", and doesn't allow you to create PDF files, it only allows you to view them. To create them, you will need the full program. For more information, here are a couple useful links: Converting Word documents to pdf files: http://faculty.deanza.fhda.edu/support/howto/wordtopdf Adobe's website: http://www.adobe.com I hope this helps. :) Mike Roulston interactivetools.com
