Photo organizing software suggestion needed

I am posting on a few forums I go to in the off topics looking for photo organizing software suggestions. I have an old laptop with a huge hard drive I just wiped clean. I am taking my over 300 CD’s (I stopped counting at 300 hehehe) of photos and putting what I want to keep on that laptop. I am looking to get a good program that will search my hard drive and organize the photos then I can rename the folder or photo in the program so I know what where by searching via keyword. I do need to edit photos or anything fancy. Just a nice organizer so I can find what I need without searching all my hundreds of CD’s. This laptop is going to be for photo only from now on. Any suggestions on what to buy? Thanks Kimberly

I use Picasa. It's free, from google, has lots of cool features but is still simple and easy to use: http://picasa.google.com/ Dave Edis - Senior Developer interactivetools.com

Wow, that would scare me off a new program too if that happened when I installed it! :) It's been fine on the few computers I've installed it on, but I'd be extra cautious if that happened last time around. Dave Edis - Senior Developer interactivetools.com
