Internet Explorer Problem Can't Post

Help Me - I have internet explorer v6.0 and for some reason I have lost the tabs labelled "General" and "Programs"- these are found under ..Tools-Internet Options. Anyone know how to remedy the problems - unable to set home page under "General". regards Kenny

Re: [kph2001] Internet Explorer Problem [In reply to] Can't Post

Are you in an office environment? Sometimes your network admin can configure things so you don't have access to certain "features".

If that's not the case, check out this URL. Look for the post near the bottom with the green header that says "Assisted Answer".

If your comfortable editing your registry you could go have a look and check if those tabs were somehow disabled in the registry.

Unsure Dave - thanx for the link but doesn't work. PC is home based only - no network. I'm running XP and the other 2 users (daughter and wife) they have no probs with the tabs in Internet explorer- any more help to offer - regards - Ken Hope

Hmm, I'm not so sure. It's odd that other 2 users get the tabs but you don't. You might check you don't have any running processes (spyware?) that are preventing you from change it... but that's probably not the case.

The best advice I can give is to try searching google.

The one other thing is to run "windows update", you might find that the next time microsoft releases a patch for IE it resets your tabs back to the default configuration.

Hi Becky,

Thanks for your post. :)

I think your best bet would probably be to try the Microsoft Knowledge Base -- they may be able to give you instructions on how to reinstall Internet Explorer. Or, you may want to try running Windows Update as there may be a patch that you can run that will clear everything up.

I hope this helps! :)

mmm,, dont know your system,, but from desktop, go to "start", "programs","accessories", "system tools", "system information","tools", then click on "Internet Explorer repair tool". Dang , cant remember the "run command" to get to it.. sry. Maybe that will help some.
Thanks
