E-commerce software Can't Post

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if interactivetools or any of its partners offers an e-commerce software package? I'm looking for something like Realty or Auto Manager where someone can list their products for sale, but then be able to purchase those products online through a shopping cart and pay for them via something like PayPal.

Any suggestions?

Charles

Hi Charles!

Thanks for your post. :)

While we don't have any product like that at the moment, almost any third party e-commerce software will probably work. Because of the extreme customizability (hmm, is that a word?) of our templates, you can add in whatever additional code is required for the shopping cart to work.

Of course, once you find one that works... let us know! :)

Donna,

What about the order software feature on interactivetools.com page ("http://www.interactivetools.com/order/")? That's pretty close to what I'm looking for. What e-commerce sofftware is being used for that?

Hi Charles,

Actually, that's not using any e-commerce software. All that form does is saves the entered information to a secure temporary spot on our servers until we go in and process each order manually, then removing it from the server afterwards.

I believe it was written by one of our programmers as a custom application for our orders page. :)

Re: [BrightStarCLN] E-commerce software [In reply to] Can't Post

I thought I'd chip in here as it took me a while to find the right order processing software. For one reason or another, none of them seemed to be 100% ideal, so it was always some sort of compromise.

I quite liked SupraCart (http://www.supracart.com) and X-cart was also quite good (http://www.x-cart.com), but in the end I went for PerlBill (http://www.perlbill.com).

PerlBill is almost 100% right for the web construction side of the business, but only about 60% correct for the hosting side of the business (I won't go into all the hosting order processing packages here ... it's a frustrating world!), but we took it for both sides of the business with a view to eventually writing our own order processing system for the hosting business (which is under way).

PerlBill is really a decent 'normal' shopping cart/order system with hosting support bolted on. It also has an excellent integral support desk that pipes incoming e-mails into it and stuff like that. Worth a look I think.

Going down the free route, there's always OsCommerce (http://www.oscommerce.com) which I've heard is very good, although I haven't tried it myself.

I wouldn't mind seeing an order/cart system from interactivetools.com though!Smile
