HI Allan,

Thanks for the forum post Smile.

There are a number of reasons why you may see that error. First what I would do is check the file and folder permissions and see if they're set correctly. If your web server uses Windows platform, it's likely that you'll need to contact the web hosting provider about changing permissions accordingly. For more information about permissions you can check out this page:

http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/listingsmanager/index.html

If you'd like, I could take a look at your installation and resolve the issue for you. Simply submit a support form: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi with your FTP information and I can get on it right away! Smile

If you have other questions please let me know.

Thanks a lot Eric,

The problem was in the server control panel.

Now I have one more question, the way my server runs I must have a index.html page under public html in order to get into my site, should I make up a may be a welcome page elsewhere and link it to the site or is there a way that I can take it from the listman.

If I was to link it to the site what url should i link it to (/homepages)

thanks once again

HI allan,

Thanks for the response Smile.

I'm glad the installation is working for you, and about your question, I think it's a good idea to create a welcome page elsewhere and link it to the listings directory since Listings Manager doesn't generate a welcome page. Note that /homepages in Listings Manager refers to a page that describes the agents. So even though it's a "homepage" for the sales staff, the directory and its content shouldn't be used as a site's global front page.

I hope this helps. If you have other questions please let me know.

Re: [Eric] Installation issues-newbie [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello Eric,

Iam slowly getting there but each level I reach I get a problem. (lack of experience).

Firstly after you guys new installed the program, i was able to see a sample pic under listings, now that I decided to have a play with templates I appear to have lost the pic and the frame? i guess I did something wrong.

under modifying templates instructions,_publish_homepage.html, I am very confused, what should the $cgiurl$ be? and do I need to place $ signs everywhere as stated in the instructions, apart from URL requirements I do not know what to do?

I have also tryed to modify temlates through your WYSIWYG editor and managed to change a couple of things but I can not seem to be able to upload the new changes through SETUP.

Also my "our agent" page does not appear to have any template in there like the listings and search listings, how do I get that to display.

http://www.privatecarsalesdirect.com is my start of the web would you mind having a look and tell me what to do please I have spent a week on this and haven't really gone anywhere.

Thanks,

Hi Allan!

Good to hear from you. :)

It looks like the path to the images has been modified. The image path should be:

<a href="$listing_url$/$listing_file$"><img src="$listing_url$/images/$thumbnail$" width=$thumbnail_width$ border=1 alt=""></a>

This will be interpreted by Listings Manager once it's published to find the correct paths. Adding anything additional to these paths can cause the web browser not to be able to find the images, as you've seen on your site.

It's possible that your WYSIWYG editor may have done this. When using a WYSIWYG editor, you'll need to take care that it doesn't modify any of the placeholders in Listings Manager.

One thing I strongly recommend is keeping a backup of both your last revision and the original templates. That way, if anything breaks, you can compare the code to the original and see where the differences are. :)

Just to let you know -- I've moved this thread into the Listings Manager forum so that if anyone else has any advice, they can jump in as well. :)

I hope this helps!

Donna
