File permissions errors

I recently installed Search Engine on one of my web sites and after a successful installation, the next time I went to log in, I had a problem. I found that the file permissions had changed and I wasn't able to change them or delete the files etc. without intervention from my web host. Today I installed News Manager on another web site (hosted by the same company) and the permissions have mysteriously changed again and I can't change them back again. I'm getting a 550 error. Each time, it seems to affect the files in the data directory. Can anyone throw any light on what's happening? I've been using this host for several years and have installed other interactivetools software on their servers in the past without this sort of problem.

Hi Annie. Thanks for posting! What's happening here is the Search Engine and News Manager both let your server decide what permissions to give files when they are being created or modified. There are some options here though so what I am thinking the best thing to do will be to send me a support request: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi That way, I can get right in there and give everything a once over for you. How does that sound? I look forward to hearing from you . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
