Suggestions for interatcivetools.com

First, I would like to thank IT here at interactivetools.com for their great products and superior after-sale services to their clients. Their services alone are worth more than the cost of the license alone when compared to competing products along the same line After the largely anticipated Article Manager MySQL version release, should IT start to re-evaluate their product line? If so, why and how should the implementation take place? HOW? --------------------------------------- In my humble opinion, they should do the following: - Stop production on the current products: Listing Manager, Realty Manager, Auto Manager, and Job Manager. - combine all the above mentioned products into ONE powerful classifieds product where customers can have property, automotive, personals, employment categories and more, all in one package. - I will try to setup a feature list IF interactivetools.com management takes interest in the initial idea (taking interest doesn't mean that they will do my suggestion, but rather an indication that they are willing to study the feasibility of such a step towards themselves as a company, and their current clients). - Setup a community gateway script/plug-in allowing Article Manager users to quickly and easily integrate/link both applications (AM v2 + Classifieds). Very much similar to the community script linking all products of Gossamer Threads. WHY? --------------------------------------- - I think most websites, like online newspapers and portals, which have a keen interest in Article Manager, choose not to buy a license because of the following (I'm going to assume that AM MySQL has been released for these points): ---- It does not support integration of additional site services like other CMS programs through the use of a built-in plugin system (even free ones) such as Joomla/Mambo, DotNetNuke, phpNuke, and more. ---- Many portals make money by building interactive online communities through advertising. With that in mind, AM or LM or any other stand-alone product at interactivetools doesn't do the job. At the moment, all they do is present an online "Read Only" community. Now-a-days, online portals are more demanding of the software borderline abilities, and their online viewers are also demanding in terms of becoming "Active Members" of their communities. Obviously, this is just a scratch on the surface. I did not include many details as IT needs to become involved directly to discuss with its clients (users of their products) the feasibility of these suggestions. God bless you all! Marssin

Many online software companies, provide a wide range of software, hoping to gain access to more sales through a diverse list of scripts. This method is good for the company in the short run, but will yield a negative outlook for their products, because having a diverse set of scripts, all having different coding structures, will take the company a long time to update / patch / even release a newer version. Building one application core, and allowing the other scripts to be seemlessly integrated through a plugin management area within that core, will allow website developers / clients to purchase additional modules that in turn add functionality to their website. And of course, the code is more stable, maybe even bug free... ultimately, quality software! thats the main reason behind my suggestions above. becoming a more specialized software vendor is always a good thing.
