Suggestions for Article Manager and Listing Manager Can't Post

I would suggest:

for Article Manager, to get the opportunity to place VOTE (Rating) to the articles readed, and in each article show icons like starts showing the rate (may be the same for Listing Manager?). Useful to target the visitor atention about the most voted products.

also I would suggest the following possibility: when a visitor read a article, then a email with the email address visitor´s, will be send to the User who posted the article. In this way the User will know how many visitor read his article, and also the user may send complementary information about this article.

... and would be interesting to develop a e-commerce (in the same IT philosophy) focoused to small companies.

Thanks for you attention, and sorry for my English.

Re: [felixr] Suggestions for Article Manager and Listing Manager [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Felix.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I’ll pass your ideas along to our developers. However, I think they both are similar. If there was a voting function on each of the articles, the author could just check that to see how popular their article is. Of course, not everyone will vote for a page, however, if an email is sent to the author every time the article is viewed you might have an issue with email accounts filling up.

If you have any more suggestions please let me know Smile.

Suggestions for Article Manager and Listing Manager [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm sure there's a third party script out there that could integrate to do this, but I can't find it (and am a bit technically challenged to begin with.)

If anybody knows of one, please post it. I would enjoy this feature as well, though I'm not sure it's something AM should have to provide. Again, seems like there'd be a reasonable work around, much like having comments posted in to articles, I just don't know how to find it.

Re: [brianbankerus] Suggestions for Article Manager and Listing Manager [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi brianbankerus,

Thanks for posting.

The easiest way to setup a voting or rating system at the moment is to use a separate software tool. Article Manager is best suited for maintaining the content on a website, so things like rating management and getting feedback from users is best handled by software that is designed to do just that. Here are a couple of links to some collections of software packages available:

http://hotscripts.com/CGI_and_Perl/Scripts_and_Programs/Reviews_and_Ratings/index.html

http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Survey_and_Voting/

Since you can just add the code from another program to the article templates, setting this up is pretty easy. If you need any help setting something like that up, we would be glad to help Smile

You're saying that rating and/or commenting on content is different than content management? Unimpressed

Hey brianbankerus,

I'm not saying that rating and/or commenting on content is different than content management, I'm just saying that Article Manager is designed to manage the content that you enter on your website.

So while a voting or rating system isn't part of the program right now, you can still get the same effect by using a program that's designed to do that in cooperation with Article Manager.

I hope that helps clarify, but if you need more details just let me know Smile
