Static page function in Artman2 Can't Post

I think it could be great if artman 2 has an extra menu where we have

Home | Article | Category

This menu should be static pages
Then you should be able to add mainpages and subpages to a certain main page.
It should be build the same way as the article page, so you can add the fields as
you want.

This could be a very cool feature, that I think article manager is missing very much.
Then it could work as a complete cms system for almost any pages.

I know there is a tutorial about how to use the system for the static pages, but I
do not think this is the way to do it. It should be taken away from the category and
article system.

Hi there

I think you'll want to have a look at one of our most recent tutorials for Article Manager 2 as it actually goes over how to set up what I think you are looking for:

http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/doc.cgi?/articlemanager2/tutorials/single_page_categories.html

Give that a read through and let me know how you make out Smile.

Is my english so bad, that you did not understod my post?
What I am saying is that I do not believe the way to do is to use categories
for this feature. Almost all sites have the About, Contact etc.
It should be able to list these apart from the categories, i believe the best way
to do it to have another part of the pages, witch is called static pages. So you
take them away from the categories...

This is a feature I would like to see in the future.

Re: [ross] Static page function in Artman2 [In reply to] Can't Post

How do I do something similar to http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/doc.cgi?/articlemanager2/tutorials/single_page_categories.html on my global index page?

What I want is the ability to add static content ahead of the article lists on the home page. I can't see where I change the fields in the database as there is no home page equivilant to the category pages. I also don't know where I would add this content as there is no home page modify function like the categories.

Hi smoothmedia,

Thanks for posting!

What kind of editing capabilities did you need for your static content? If you just need to enter text, you can use the "My Placeholders" capability in the Admin section to update content from within Article Manager. If you need WYSIWYG capabilities, you could create an unlinked single page category that was brought in to your homepage by an include statement. This category could use a custom template that was stripped down to only publish the text content.

Let us know if you need any more details on this. Smile
