Search Engine: Multiple directories in a category

Thanks for all the great software! I have a request, and I'm sure I'm not the first to ask for this, but I can't find any other posts about this.
In the Search Engine software, could it be possible to be more granular in defining categories? The website I run is very document heavy, with many documents relevant to many sections. What I would like to do is be able to have search categories that pull in multiple directories and even specific files. Also, it would be extremely helpful if you could setup a global ignore list, and then separate ignore lists by category. What may be an appropriate document for a category search may not be appropriate for a site-wide search for example.

Hi jasonb,
Thanks for posting.
Thats a good suggestion, so I'll add it to our feature request list. With each new release all suggestions are reviewed and we try to determine what is most asked for and what would be most useful to the broadest number of users.
