Output templates

What if you set up a seperate template set for each output style that you want AM to use? Much like the article and printer version update as an article is created, each template set would update based upon the output requirements. For example, when you set up AM you tell it I want to create the following template types: Article, Printer, HTML Mobile, WAP, etc... Then when you fire up the program each page is populated with each new article created. Currently of course there are two kinds offered. The HTML mobile would be an easy add on due to it not requiring any changing of the output during publishing. WAP and other forms of output may require a conversion system during publishing to create the page. By setting up the setup area of AM to address the different templates with a checkbox type system a person that wanted to add a WAP conversion add on to it would check that selection in the setup screen and republish the articles for population. If a person wanted to have a Spanish or German version they would add the conversion add on, select the box and publish. I am sure that this is much harder than the way it seems here, but I feel this would lend itself to a new development market (conversion add ons) and expansion of the sites userbase due to diversity. Just a thought! Brian

Brian, I really like your idea of being able publish one pages content to multiple pages using different templates (Article, Printer, HTML Mobile, WAP, etc.). Converting a page automatically into other languages would be great too but probably wouldn't work that well. I have used Google.com to translate pages before from other languages into english and the results can sometimes still be hard to decipher. I'm adding your multi-template suggestion to our feature request list and adding my vote. :) Cheers Damon Edis interactivetools.com

Thanks! What might be neat is making this also user definable when publishing an article. Example: A writer is given authority to publish in specific areas by the admin when the writer is set up: O Publish Rights X HTML Mobile Publish Rights O WAP Publish Rights O Syndication Publish Rights X Other Publish Rights THen this writer has the ability to self publish into the main category, WAP and Syndication. And as an admin you would set up all template sets for publication in the setup: Example: O Then a txt box to assign the template set - then a box to assign name O /blahblah/templates/WAP/default.html WAP O /blahblah/templates/MOBILE/default.html MOBILE O /blahblah/templates/PRINTER2/default.html PRINT2 Just an add on thought... We are also interest in this functionality - if I understand correctly. But not for different outputs as such (WAP, etc) but for the creation of different layout templates using syndication. Perhaps I should ask first, are multiple templates for syndication available? Or is it a future enhancement?

Hi, The WebFeed Generator doesn't include mulitiple templates but it does allow uses to control the font type, font color, column width, optional date, and optional summary. You can also customize the output of the Webfeed by allowing summary images (a setting in the config.ini file). No current plans to add mulitiple templates for syndication as a feature but I will add that to our feature request list. If you have any additional details you could provide, that would be helpful for our developers when they review the all the feature requests. Cheers Damon Edis interactivetools.com
