MySQL version of Listing Manager

MySQL version of software must be available. After the growth of your database in plain text you will need MySQL or migrate to another software. By the way, what is the size of the database file your programm (for example Listing Manager) can handle?

Hi Imus. Thanks again for posting! MySQL support in Listings Manager is definitely on our list for projects to look at after Article Manager 2.0 is finished. In fact, because of the way Article Manager is being written, it will be much easier to port features to all our software such as MySQL. There haven’t been any plans just yet, but what I’ll do is add your name to that list as well. As it stands now, the we generally recommend a 2000 listing limit for Listings Manager. This isn’t a hard coded value though so you will be able to go beyond 2000. I have actually seen some installations with well over 6000 listings, but once you start going over 2000 you’ll notice that the server will start to need more resources in order to handle the extra information. Does this all help? Just let me know if you have anymore questions . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Thanks, Ross, for the quick response! Yes, it helped me a lot. At least now I know the approximate limit.

Hi cosmin, Thanks for posting and welcome to the discussion forum. While the upgrade that we are working on that will allow you to use MySQL isn't ready yet, we are still working hard to meet our target of a Fall 2005 release. As always, upgrades are free so you'll be able to make full use of the newest version at no charge. If you join our newsletter we can let you know as soon as it's available. What you can do is run the latest version of Article Manager until the next version is out and then switch over to MySQL. The great thing about the upgrade is that you will have the option to stay with the current database format, or use MySQL. I hope that helps explain, but let me know if you need any more details. Hi wasatch, Thanks for the post! It actually looks like there was a bit of confusion with this thread and what was posted on it. Originally Ross had been asked about the possibility of a MySQL Listings Manager and he mentioned that we are currently working on an upgrade for Article Manager and after that we'll be taking a look at what's next in the queue to be worked on. Cliff's post and mention of the Fall 2005 release was actually in response to a question he was asked about Article Manager and it's MySQL version. An Article Manager upgrade is what we're currently working on. After that, I'm not too sure what's next in the queue but if you keep your eye on our forum and newsletter we'll be sure to keep you posted. I apologize if there was any confusion and if you have any other questions you can feel free to let me know! Cheers, Mike Briggs - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
