"Entertainment Manager" Can't Post

How about an "Entertainment Manager" or "Restaurant Manager" script? I realize that this can be accomplished by modifying either Auto Manager or Real Estate Manager, but feel that a product dedicated to this purpose would be a good idea.

Some thoughts...

Setup Interface: Category Editor / Venue Editor / User Manager / Event Creator

Categories are created, I.E. Bars, Clubs, Theatres, etc.. These are then populated with individual venues. Homepage for each category will contain a list of all venues within the category. Users can be created with either access to a specific venue (with selectable editorial powers over various elements), or superusers with access to everything. The Event Creator would be a button within the Venue Editor interface, whereby the person managing the venue could create event pages linked to their venue page - for instance "Friday Night Blues Music" would be listed on the venue page, and would link to a full page description of the event. This of course should be done in such a way that searches could be performed for types of events, specific events, performing artists, or date ranges.

User Ratings: It would be useful if a user rating system could be integrated whereby vistiors to the site could rate each venue. Searches could then be performed on user ratings as well.

I know there are plenty of other features that could be incorporated, and that this could be a very useful tool for community and nightlife sites. (I'm in line for the first copy)

Please contribute any other ideas you might have :-)

Re: [marc] "Entertainment Manager" [In reply to] Can't Post

I like this idea. It's a bit of a different concept from the way Realty Manager and Auto Manager works. They're more designed for a single realtor/auto dealer to manager an inventory. The software you're proposing would be more of a collaborative venture.

Instead of a single venue owning the software, someone would create a community website and get the various venues to submit their information, update show times, etc. You would have subscribers, they could receive updates when appropriate events are happening.

So, the question is, are there a lot of these kinds of sites? Marc'll take a copy. Anyone else?

The way I see it, the script would enable the site owner to create and populate a database of categories and venues which would make up the backbone of the site. There would be an additional component which would allow selected venues editorial control of pre-defined elements of their listing such as menus, news, and events.

If we were to get really ambitious, some sort of reservation/guest list feature could be tacked on as well...
