Article Search by Field

We have 1000's of articles, and the new article search in AM2 (which includes article content instead of title only) has made it extremely difficult for us to find the articles we need to edit. I am pleading for a "search by field" option, so that you can search all your articles by any field you select. For instance, it would be AWESOME if we had the option to search our articles by the filename. Please consider it! :) Thanks! -Bo

I second the motion! :D One thing I would also like to see is a browsing function on the back-end. Specifically, I'm thinking of a Windows Explorer-like "pane" with a directory (or category) tree that could be used to browse and access articles for editing. That would be awesome. As a reference for an easy-to-use back-end for finding content, take a look at MODx. Another neat thing MODx allows for is a "QuickEdit" function, where you can login to the back-end, then browse your site on the front-end like a regular surfer to find the content you wish to edit. When a content admin is logged-in, an "edit this page" button appears wherever a content area is detected on the page. You just surf to the page you want to change on the site, click "Edit", make your changes and click save, and you're done! You know, MODx is open-sourced, so perhaps some of these convenient featured could be ported directly from there to AM2?

Hi Bo! Well, you can actually set the default search fields! Go to Admin > Database Editor > Table Editor for the Articles, and you can set the Default Search Fields to whatever fields you'd like. :) If you then want different fields searched on the public side, you can add hidden fields that tell it what to use as well. Let me know if that works for you! Donna

Great reply on the search-by topic. Thanks! Should I be posting the feature requests somewhere else?

Hi trumpetmic, Nope, this is a great place to post feature requests -- but feel free to check with us first to see if a feature already exists. We've managed to pack a fair amount in! :) Donna

Thanks Donna. Indeed, it seems you have packed AM2 with enough features to make even the most feature-hungry folks happy! So, what are your thoughts on the browsing and editing functions I mentioned?
