Allowing Users to Create Their Own Accounts

www.zinos.com has their site setup so that new users can create their own accounts and upload articles. They have a very friendly interface that allows users to understand all the coding so that they can see how it's all going to look and feel before submitting it. Many of my writers are really green when it comes to submitting an article that can actually be published. Like the coding is all goofy and they can't seem to grasp image placeholders for nothing. Really drives me batty. As a result of their frustration, a lot of my writers submit to me directly via email and I get to deal with it. Yuck. Lemme know.

Hi brianbakerus, Thanks for your post! :) Allowing site visitors to sign up for a user account is an interesting idea and I'll make a note of it in our list of feature requests. I checked out the zinos.com site and noticed that a site visitor can sign up for user account and submit his/her own articles. While there are no plans to develop this feature in the short term, there is a workaround available for allowing site visitors to submit their own articles without having to sign up for a user account. You can check it out here: http://www.interactivetools.com/products/articlemanager/tutorials_artman_autologin.html With this workaround site visitors log in as a Regular User, can enter their name in the Author field, and an Editor can then approve the article to go live. If you have any other feature suggestions please feel free to let me know! Luke Holzken Product Development

Oh wow, that is an EXCELLENT work around. Even better than the my suggestion, really. --Update-- I just implemented it and sent out notice to all the people who've been wanting me to create them accounts. I had to juggle the URL, but it wasn't rocket science.
