AM suggestion: Article emailing

when a article is made visable could the contents be automatically sent to a email address specified by the category the article is in? In this way we could setup email distribution lists for people to subscribe to that would send them any news posted in the areas they want.

Good idea ... but i would never send them the complete article and spare them the time to come visit my site, thus loosing page views and clicks. I would send article info with summary only. As i said, good idea. (thumbs up) -------------- Sure you can spell it, but do you get it?

good point. what you could do however is use templates to make a html email with links to other sections of your website, adverts etc. This way you could bring your web pages directly to your subscribers! In fact thinking about it the best idea might be to have 2 templates, one for plain text version and the other for an html attachment version. the paintext could (if you set it up that way) just give the article title, summary and a link to the site and the html version can be a copy of the web page. what do you think?

Of course i agree .. i love options :) (light bulb goes ON : Whats New This Week): Am still VERY new to ArticleManager .. but maybe one can save a search criteria to a certain template (ie: weeklymail.htm) and run that search weekly .. save the page/source .. and email it to users. Problem with these tweaks, addons or (whatever we call them), is that : - they are not automated, - we have remember them. I have previously asked our friends at InteractiveTools to allow us to add links to the ADMIN interface .. this way the admin interface would act like ControlPanel and we can access different things (including other scripts) from there. OOps .. looks like i went astray .. back to subject: Yeah .. 2 templates is a good idea ... i can alternate between the 2 as needed. -------------- Sure you can spell it, but do you get it?
