AM features to suggest Can't Post

I really like a lot of what everyone has discussed adding or supporting in the future releases. I'd like to add a couple of ideas to the mix.

1. The abilty to designate how each category is to be sorted.

For example, the News section makes sense sorted by date and time, but company information makes more sense by title and certainly Help should be by title. Ideally, it would be nice to designate sorting by *subcategories* and then by *title* or *date* or *author* or some other field.

2. I appreciate the ability to modify the interface templates, but the warning scares the heck out of me. How about the ability for a simplified web submission form -- just the basic title, author/submitter, contact, text -- would be very useful in using AM with technically phobic clients with frequent information changes. Perhaps a tutorial on creating a separate, simplified interface page, please?

3. For those of us who want to use AM as a recommended solution for clients, have you considered either an affiliate ore reseller program? Or at the very least, a volume discount price? I can really recommend AM to many clients who need flexibility in maintaining their content, but lack the knowledge to setup PHP/MySQL content solutions or the money to tackle large site development projects.

4. What are you using for your forum software? The ability to integrate discussion forums with articles would be another big hit among my clients.

Thanks so much!

oh, and the new Chris Potter Pages (http://www.chrispotterpages.cm) using AM are proving a big hit -- although everyone's afraid to submit new articles until I figure out how to make a simplified submission interface page. Cool

Hi guerrilla!

Thanks for your post. :)

1. You're right, that would be darn handy! However, there is a workaround that might work for you...

If you're not displaying the date on articles in your help or company information section, then you can just edit the date so that your articles come out in the order that you want them to.

2. You can remove a lot of the options that you don't want visible through the setup options.

3. We do indeed have both an affiliate program and bulk discounts! Check out our affiliate program here:

...and you can see our bulk discount pricing here:

4. The forum software we use is Gossamer Threads.

Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

Cheers!

Thanks for the work around suggestion and the information on your bulk and affiliate programs.

On issue 2, my problem is that I want editors and trusted writers (not to mention administrators) to be able to use all the features, but need somtehing incredibly simple and stripped down for "guests" or the technically challenged (like the exec who can't figure out how to close a window but wants to load a daily memo *sigh*).

I'm working on a semi-solution with PHP, but it would be nice to assign features based upon status with "writers" or "guests" having something with no decision making. Wink

Thanks for all the great information and the great product!

Hi guerilla,

Ah, I see what you're getting at. It's an interesting idea, I'll make sure it gets added to the requested features list. :)

Thanks!

couldn't you do that by editing your templates/interface/_writer_menus.html ?

Sure you can spell it, but do you get it?

There is only one _writer_menus.html file and that file is used for all user account types, so there is no way to set this up so that a simplified version would be used for specific account types.

You can modify the templates, but just keep in mind that currently any changes you make to the interface templates are applied to all user accounts types.

It would certainly be cool to be able to setup specific interfaces for specific user account types, so I am going to forward this suggestion on to the development team to be added to the feature request list.

Thanks for the input, Malak... I'm glad I was able to learn something new from the two threads regarding this issue. :)

And have a great vacation!
