AM: (title) tag customization

It would be nice to be able to specify a different <title> tag that the one automatically slapped on (from the category name) when editing a category. This would help a lot, especially, in search engine rankings.

Hi tmaffin, Thanks for your suggestion... Before I send it along to the development team, how exactly would you like this to work? Perhaps have an option when you create the article to add the <title> tag information?... And if you leave that field blank, it would just add the actual article title into the <title> tag? I agree that this would be a cool feature as sometimes people might want the <title> tag to have something different from the actual article title. Please provide me with some more details about how you would like this to work before I forward this along to the development team. :-) Mike Roulston interactivetools.com

Hi Mike, I was thinking more of the HTML head <title> tags in Category pages, not article pages, though it might also be neat to specify a prefix for article pages as well (perhaps site name, followed by article title). So, when you go to Cateogy Editor, and select Create New, an additional field would be there. Perhaps right under "Category name" you'd have radio buttons like this: o Use Category Name as page's <title> tag o Use customized <title> tag: __________________________ :)

Hi, Thanks for the additional info. I now completely understand how you would like this to work, and will pass the info along to the development team to be added to the feature request list. If you have any other suggestions, feel free to let me know. :) Mike Roulston interactivetools.com

Hi Guys, While there's no built in way to add a unique title tag to each individual category page in Article Manager, it is possible to create an individual category index template file for each category. For example, if you had a sports category, you could create a templatefile called sports_index.html and use that template file for your sports category. The sports_index.html template file could, of course, have a unique title tag specific to the sports category (e.g. <title>The Sports Category</title>) While I agree a "title" field in the Category Editor would be much easier, with this mehtod, you could give each category index page it's own unique title. There's actually a tutorial here on how to create a unique category index template for each category: http://www.interactivetools.com/products/articlemanager/tutorials_artman_unique_template.html If you wanted to give each article it's own unique <title>, you could create a new article field (Setup Options -> General Tab -> Article Fields) called "Title Tag". You could then have the fields placeholder output between the opening and closing <title> tags in the /article/default.html template file like so: <title>$art_field12$</title> This would make it possible for you to create a unique <title> for each article. I hope this helps, and if you have any questions please let me know! Luke Holzken Product Development
