Template Modifications -- Newbie Stuff

I have a number of questions that I am attempting to resolve. I will break them down into what I am seeking to do and what I have done. Any assistance in resolving these items... is greatly appreciated. 1) My AM is on a Cobalt Server that I own. The server has a requirement to have the main index page in the web root... and it must be index.html. I have searched all over this forum for sometype of redirect and was able to only come up with the following... which does not work. <!--#include virtual="/artman/publish/index.shtml" --> 2) I have attempted to modify the default templates for the main index and the article default.html pages. I have modified these templates and then uploaded them via ftp. When attempting to view the updated pages, nothing apprears to have changed. So my question is, what templates need to be modified to enable the changes to the site? [In reviewing much of the material on the fourm, it appears that with the current version of AM, there has been a number of changes to the directory structure and thus, very difficult to determine what needs to be changed.] I have also reviewed the online documents for direction on these matters, but at present, I have been unable to locate the relevent information. Sorry if these questions appear to be simplistic... just trying.

Hi, Thanks for your questions. 1) It look like the reason your Server Side Include isn't working is because you are adding it to an .html page which isn't parsed for SSIs. I'm not a serve admin but I wanted to help solve the problem so I looked online and was able to find a lot of really good references about enabling SSIs in .html pages. Here is a link to one that discusses how to enable SSIs using htaccess files: http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/htaccess4.shtml 2) For template changes to be published, after modifying and uploading the templates, you will need to go to Article Manager Setup Options and re-publish all the articles. If the changes still don't appear, confirm that you are modifying and uploading the templates into the right directory. Ex: http://wwwyoursite.com/cgi-bin/artman/templates/ A complete list of templates and the available placeholders and templatecells can be found in our online documentation: http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/articlemanager/admin/index.html If the template changes still are not appearing, email our Support Team so we can look into it: support@interactivetools.com I hope that helps.
