Problem w/mp3s in File Download

I'm trying to add downloadable mp3s to a page using the Uploaded File article type. Even though I have allowed the mp3 file extension and added the "[types][media/MP3]" line to the xssfilter.ini file, I still get a 500 error when I try to publish out the article as an uploaded file. Help! Teresa

Hi Teresa, Thanks for the post! From what you've outlined here, it sounds like this issue is more likely related to the way the server handles Perl scripts. If you're uploading an MP3 file into Article Manager, this may take a bit of time and there's a chance that your hosting company has a limit on the amount of time that Perl scripts are able to run. I'd suggest getting in touch with your hosting company and asking them to increase the amount of resources Perl scripts are able to use so you'll be able to upload these files without running into that error message. If you'd like me to get onto your server to run a couple of test scripts to try this out and demonstrate this, you'll just want to pass along your FTP details here: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi I hope this helps Teresa! Thanks, Mike. By the time you read this you should already have the info you need to run a test script.

Just to update anyone who may be looking at this thread, while I do believe Mike was right about getting the host to allocate additional resources to Perl (it seems I ran into this issue somewhere else), the host (Earthlink) won't do it. There are lots of other hosting options out there if we can convince our client (a pro-bono, non-profit client) to switch hosts. Thanks for your help, Mike.
