Need to make additional templates Can't Post

Hi,

I've got Article Manager 1.21 running great, but I'm trying to find out if I can create more templates, the other templates are fine and are easy to customise, but I need an extra /publish/headlines_.shtml template, which I want to contain images for the frontpage of my website.

Is this possible? Can I make new templates and will the publish all command pickup on the new template, or do I have to add some code somewhere to make it create a page based on my new template.

Hope its clear, I know what I'm talking about, but my explanations are rubbish Wink

Any help would be appreciated. Smile

Kind Regards,
Mark Hindle

Re: [MHindle] Need to make additional templates [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi MHindle,

You can create as many template pages as you like. Headline templates go in the <install dir>/templates/headlines/ directory.

You can use one template per category for each of the 4 published page types (IE Category Index Page, Latest Headlines, Article Pages and Article Printer Pages). The way to choose which template is used is to choose Category Editor then click the modify template link for the category. Towards the bottom of the page there is a Category Templates section. You will see that all the templates you have uploaded are displayed in the dropdown menues.

In your particular case, here is what I would recommend:

1) Open <install dir>/templates/headlines/default.html in a text editor
2) Immediately (before you make any changes to it) save it with a different filename (eg <install dir>/templates/headlines/imageheadlines.html)
3) Make the changes you desire to this file.
4) FTP it up to your host
5) Logon to Article Manager using an Administrative level account
6) Goto Category Editor
7) Perform these steps for each of the categories you wish to use the new template file for:
a) Click the modify link
b) Change the Latest Headlines dropdown menu to your new template
c) Click the Save button
8) Once you have updated all the categories, goto Setup Options and click the Publish All button

That should about do it. Please let us know how it turns out for you :)
