Multiple Publications

Hi, I am new to AM and am busy tailoring it to suit my client's existing website - so far, so good with tailoring the look and feel issues. The publisher has multiple publications aimed at several niche industries. e.g. Plumbing - 2 publications and 1 exhibition Refrigeration - 5 publications and 1 exhibition and so on for 5 industry sectors. Each publication has it's own unique set of sub sections e.g. Industry news, product news etc etc. I can see that in AM one would use a category for each publication and sub categories for each section within a publication. Also I would have to use a different template for each Industry sector. My challenge is to display only those sub sections that are pertinent to an individual publication in the left hand menu on the article summaries and detailed pages. Also, the Industry sector home page should show only its own publications without sub sections and not any other sectors' publications. Displaying all the publications and their sub categories on every would be very confusing to a site visitor. (FYI - The current site is at www.plumbingafrica.co.za and the part of that site that I see AM replacing is the TOC and the detailed articles for each publication.) How to go about achieving this? Regards Tony Randell

Hi Tony. Thanks for posting! From the sounds of it here, you are going to be looking for the “Selected Branch Only” setting. To get this you’ll want to log into Article Manager and head over to the Server tab in Setup Options. From there, scroll down to the “Subcategory Settings” and you’ll see and option for “Selected Branch Only”. Check that one off and hit the Publish All button. That should be it. Have a look at your site again and let me know what you think of the results . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

How about also showing the peers of the selected category? "Selected Branch Only" seems to show only parents and subcategories of the selected category, but not its peers. Say we have the following structure: 1. 1.1 1.2 1.3 2. 2.1 2.2 2.3 When we send traffic to 2, with "selected branch only" we see (scenario 1) 2. 2.1 2.2 2.3 However, when a user clicks on -say- 2.2, only the following is shown: (scenario 2) 2. 2.2 In scenario 2 above, how can we see the following instead? 2. 2.1 2.2 2.3 (This is the subcategory behavior with "Show All", "One level", and "Two Level".) Note: With bold I am denoting the selected/highlighted node. Thank you in advance for your attention.
