Javascript in main body

Hi, I'm trying to insert Javascript code into the main body of one of my articles. This script allows a new article to be displayed each week (from another website). It works...but a little too well; I get two copies of the article instead of just one. You can see what I mean here: http://www.solo-e.com/library/articles/article_1343.shtml What seems to happen is when I used the html editor to put in the code, then click ok, it executes the javascript -- so instead of seeing a blank page for the body (in wysiwyg view), I see the actual article...ok that's confusing, I hope that makes sense!! Hi Terri, Thanks for your email. I took a look at your article, and I'm only seeing one copy of your article -- are you still experiencing trouble? Donna

Hmmm! Maybe when I did a "publish all" earlier today it cleared it up?? Because it was definitely still showing last night. I'm going to leave well enough alone! Thanks :)

Hi Donna, What seems to be happening is that as AM saves the article, it "executes" the bit of javascript I've put into the main body. Which works fine, as we found out, once it is re-published. However, the JS I'm wanting to use is supposed to pull in a new article each week. What I have now is a static article...and when I look in the body of the article in AM, the entire article (from last week) shows up, rather than just the JS. Said another way...I want the main body to have only that one line of JS, that would execute every time someone views that page. So how can I get AM to ignore (not execute) the JS? is it possible? Thanks! Terri Z

Hi Terri. Thanks for the updates . I am not actually sure just yet what could be happening here. My first though is that it’s actually more to do with the script itself instead of Article Manager. The reason for that is because Article Manager doesn’t actually execute any of the code on a page when it’s being published. It just takes your template, throws in the content where it needs to and saves that as a file on your server. If the script is executing twice, there might actually be something in the script itself that is not quite working the way you were expecting it to. One question I have though would be does the actual line of JavaScript get duplicated on your published files? Or does it only appear one time and run twice? Keep me up to date with how you are making out . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
