Intergrating Search script into Article Manager..

Good morning all... My goal for today is to fully mesh interactivetools.com search script within Article Manager. Here is were I am at now and I hope someone can spare a few minutes to help me out.. I emailed Luke @ support yesterday and he suggested that I replace the search form within article managers search_form with the code from the new search script. Works! Thanks Luke.. Following the logic and existing link to the advanced search feature, I then replaced the article managers advanced search form with the new advanced search form, and everything works cool. Except... I hate the little details, they always take so much time. Now when I do a search the results are displayed on a seperate page outside of article manager. test for yourself.... http://www.datadork.com I would like the results from the new script to be contained within article manage like how article manager's basic features work by default. Does this make sense, I can clarify if not.. It have been a long night and sunlight is comming.. Thanks again Luke and the support team. I am sure we will talk again soon.... :) James Edmonds DataDork (http://www.datadork.com) "Have you hugged your pocket protector today?"

Hi James, I believe Luke has already been helping you out with the Search Engine integration via email and I wanted to see how it was working out on your site but unfortunately the link brings up the following message: [an error occurred while processing this directive] Is this possible an incorrect SSI path? I wanted to let you know. Cheers Damon Edis interactivetools.com

Hi James, This absolutely makes sense. The reason why the search results are output with a different design is because Search Engine uses its own set of template files. You'll have to modify Search Engines search_results.html template file (be sure not to get this confused with Article Manager's search_results.html template file, they both have a template file of the same name) to suit the look and feel of your website. The easiest way to do this is to open up Search Engine's /templates/search_results.html template file in an HTML/text editor of your choice and make the appropriate changes to the design. I hope this helps! If you need any more details please feel free to let me know. Luke Holzken Product Development

Thanks for checking in on me. I was upgrading to 1.1 when you hit the site but it is back and better than ever thanks to the upgrade. As you can see I am still a bit confused on the html part of it to get the results page within the search script to look like it is contained within the "generic" template provided. Like I mentioned before I would like to gt this behind me so I can more on to getting the "look" for my site. Feel free to take a look and any suggestions or kind works of encouragement is always welcome. Take care! HI, Yes replacing the Art. Mgr, Search form with just the Search script form works fine, but you are loosing the search by date and categories feature. I couldn't do with out it so I use both search forms but wish I didn't have too: http://www.almaweb.org/search.shtml 1. Could the article Mgr. search be modify so it searchs the entire site also ? or 2. Could the Search script be modify so its form includes Article Mngr categories and search by dates ?

Hi, 1. Unfortunately it's not possible to have Article Manager's search engine search the entire website. Article Manager's search engine is designed to search only Article Manager's data files. The benefit of this, however, is much faster searching. Because Article Manager's search engine understands its own data files its been designed to do searching based on category and date ranges. 2. Search Engine can't be set up to do range searches on dates as the program is designed to search HTML pages. It wasn't designed to understand dates, categories, and Article Manager's data files. This is an interesting idea though, and the developers in the future may find a way to accomplish this. Thanks for the idea! :) Luke Holzken Product Development
