Custom fields for one category Can't Post

Is it possible to change the order of the article summary and content on the article creator page? Specifically, move the article summary and content fields above the custom fields?

I've set up some custom fields, and they're only applicable to articles created in one category. And it's kind of a pain to have to scroll all the way through 3 WYSIWYG boxes, and it could lead to confusion with the client about which boxes the summary and content go in.

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for the post!

There is actually a couple of ways that you could do this, the first and easiest way is to simply turn off the default Summary and Content fields. After turning these off you can simply create your own Summary and Content area using spare Article Manager fields (art_fieldX). To do this follow the steps below:

- Login into the admin section, and select "Setup Options" from the far right hand side.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the "Article Fields" section, and disable the default "Summary" and "Content" fields.
- Next using spare Article Manager fields create your own "Summary" and "Content" sections, you can order these new fields how you like.

The second way to do this is a little more invovled and requires editing the interface template files, for more information on this second method check-out this link:

Give either of these a try Matthew and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask!

That's a great tip, but it looks like it's creating problems for the syncation scripts. Is it possible to modify them so they access the custom summary field instead of the default?

Also, I'm having another problem with the syndication feeds. It looks like the 'max_articles' variable isn't affecting the number of articles that are displayed. I'm actually trying to put three syndication feeds on one page, which I thought wouldn't be a problem. You can see the page here: http://fccglenwood.org - I've got the syndication script definitions in /script.js which is included in the header of the page.

Hi Matthew.

Thanks for getting back in touch!

Would you mind filling out a support request for me?

https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi

I am not exactly sure why moving the content and summary would be effecting your syndicate but if I can get onto your server, I’ll be able to have a closer look.

While I am there, I’ll track down the max articles thing as well. I look forward to hearing from you Smile.
