Category and headline display Can't Post

Howdy,

From my home page www.slopeflyer.com how do I get the page that comes up after “more headlines” is clicked to not have the same template as the home page? I want to either just have a list of headlines or, ideally, a different header than the Home Page.

I have about 100 categories hidden and want to unhide them so they are searchable by the site search engine. I do not want the categories currently hidden to show up in the “Latest Headlines” column but do want the new articles added to show up as story summaries in the middle column of the Home Page.

I imagine I will have to hard code the links on the left navigation as well so only the links I want to show do otherwise that navigation will get really long. Maybe terrill’s subcat hack? Has anyone tried this with 50 subcategories? Is there a performance hit?

Thanks

Hi,

Good news. You can have the "More Headlines" link on the main article index page use pull up the following page article results using a different template.

Here is my steps:

1. Copy the /templates/index/default.html file and save into the same directory as more_headlines.html (or something you prefer to name it)

2. Modify the more_headlines.html to suite your needs, save and upload to your site.

3. Open the /templates/index/default.html file and modify the "More Headlines" link.

For example:

http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/artman/exec/search.cgi?start=11&perpage=10&template=index/more_headlines.html

Change the article start number and the article per page number to match your site preferences. Keep in mind if you later decide to change the number of articles displayed on the main index page, you will need to modify the link to match the new results.

4. Modify the "<<prev" and "next>>" links on the /templates/index/default.html file.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers
